The Boycott list: BP/Amoco

I have a formula that governs my response when a merchant gets my goat. Minor incidents such as a restaurant fucking up my order or a rude clerk at the supermarket result in a 3 to 6 month boycott, depending on the severity of the infraction.

Today I add a business to the list of places I will never patronize until they literally clean up their act: BP. You know BP…they run those annoying fucking commercials with the cute little cartoons pledging to “make the day a little better.”

“Look over there in Chicago. It’s a bunch of ignorant assholes buying our gasoline AND drinking the water we dump our filth into! Let’s sing!”

Apparently their method of “making the day a little better” is to dump a bunch of toxic shit into Lake Michigan. Way to exploit that loophole, assholes.

And for the record, yes, I drive a gas-powered car. I’m saving for a Hybrid. Until then I’ll continue to be a sucker buying too much gas.

Those BP commercials annoy the crap out of me as a graphic designer. Some shapes have black outlines and some don’t. It’s very inconsistent and as a result the commercials look sloppy and amateurish.

There’s nothing in the world like the Great Lakes. As a native Chicagoan, I am blessed to drink Lake Michigan water. What’s wrong with BP? arrogant jerks. BAN BP!

I threw together a quick “BAN BP” banner for anyone’s use.

That is an awesome banner - I agree…boycott of BP needed. BP needs to stop the pollution.

Lake Michigan and all the Great Lakes are spectacular. If they were a National Park, they would be revered as much as Yosemite or Yellowstone. This is especially true if you take the drive around Lake Michigan and visit the Upper Peninsula.

Lake Michigan is Chicago’s finest feature, making our city one of the most beautiful major cities in the world. What we have here is very special, and it is easy to take this wonderful natural resource for granted. I can walk to the beach every day for lunch, and then go back to work in one of the largest cities in the world!!

I am sort of SHOCKED and DISGUSTED that BP AMOCO, the Petrochemical giant that presents itself as a GREEN oil refinery, has secretly been planning to double their dumping levels of toxic crap into our drinking water. I had previously respected BP, that they were actually doing all the things they alluded to in their advertising.

I will NEVER purchase another product from BP AMOCO. I also will never spend one dime in the lovely state of INDIANA. I will boycott Indiana also - since they took it upon themselves to determine how much crap would be safe in my drinking water. ALSO, I will continue to vote. I will make my vote count in local and national elections.

Isn’t it about time that the Federal EPA actually “Protect” something important to us, rather than something important to BIG GREEDY CORPORATIONS like BP AMOCO!!!!

Please tell every one you know - BOYCOTT BP AMOCO!!!
