I Hope This Never Gets Built
April 30th, 2007 by Brian
Just what we need, 1200 more condos in an ugly-ass building which is, by the way, way too tall to be placed at the lake shore. The people in the building behind it who probably paid 20K extra for a “lake view” are screeeeeewed.

Your post is riddled with errors. Firstly, you have an old image of the building. There has been two redesigns since then. Secondly, the placement of the building is in the wrong spot. Your image appears to be next to the Chicago River. The proposed building will be near Lake Shore Drive. Please get your facts straight. Thirdly, you obviously have no appreciation for the greatest skyline in the world which just so happens to be in Chicago. This building will make the world’s greatest skyline even better. I enjoy reading your blog, but this post is a disgrace to every Chicagoan.
Look at the picture again. 400 Lake Shore Drive. That’s Navy Pier in the lower left corner.
I’ve seen the redesign renderings. They’re even more hideous than the one in this picture. Why do we need a building that looks like it was made by sea creatures? I love the skyline as much as anyone. This building will detract from it.
But seriously, is the real estate market so shitty that developers need to build the tallest building in the united states to get people to plop down money to live downtown? That is the issue at the heart of the project.
We need to show the world that we have the biggest wieners in the world. I believe the new tower is supposed to be inhabited by sea-monkeys and unicorns.
