By “more jolly” I mean “less likely to punch their own ticket to that big chow line in the sky”
A total of 131 men died from suicide during follow-up. A higher BMI was related to a graded decline in the suicide mortality rate, from 52 per 100 000 person-years among men with a BMI of less than 21 to 13 per 100 000 among men with a BMI of 30 or higher
Hardly surprising. Take Santa Claus, the most famous jolly fat man with the most stressful job in the history of human society. A lean and hungry man in his position probably would have gotten drunk and fallen asleep on the train tracks long ago.
The same goes for Mario. Mushrooms with fangs are trying to kill him constantly. Something like that tends to turn a man crazy unless he’s jolly.
